North Wellington AFC - 'State of Origin' 2005

Latest news - the Committee of the North Wellington Association Football Club (NWAFC) is not able to hold a Club Day competition at the conclusion of the 2005 season (as done in 2003 & 2004).
However it has approved the proposal put forward by Mens Premier team player/coach Craig Hopkins who has offered to put up a trophy for a 'State of Origin' event. Details are as follows:

2005 'State of Origin' event proposal - To be held at Alex Moore Park, Johnsonville on the No. 1 (middle) ground on Saturday 10th September 2005. Kick-off is at 2pm. Cancellation/Reserve Day - Should the weather and/or grounds be unsuitable, the 'State of Origin' event will be cancelled and participants/team contacts advised as soon as possible. There is no reserve day.

The presentation of the 'State of Origin' trophy was made at the North Wellington AFC End of Season function held on Saturday 17th September 2005 at the Clubrooms, 50 Phillip St., Johnsonville.

Match Conditions: Nice and fine - a great September day in Wellington.
Referee: John Eden (Club Team - Capital 7)
Goalscorers:
Town (blue shirts) - Daniel Diggins, Scott Moran, Daniel Slieker, Matthew Caughley. (Scott Barber and Michael O'Connor took a half each in goal)
Country (claret shirts) - none. (Had plenty of corners for no result. Peter Roberts and Des Crosby both missed penalties at 0-0 & 0-4)
